The Louisiade Archapeligo is a chain of islands lying 100 nautical miles east of mainland Papua New Guinea, with the Solomon Islands lying to the east. The Louisiades comprise sand cays, lagoon reefs, limestone outcrops (uplifted coral reefs) and continental islands. The islands are spectacular and provide many safe anchorages in most weather conditions. With abundant coral reefs there is snorkelling, diving and fishing galore. There are skull caves and hills to climb, coral cays to explore, mangrove lined creeks, coconut shaded beaches and shady trees to sit under. | The Louisiade Archapeligo is a chain of islands lying 100 nautical miles east of mainland Papua New Guinea, with the Solomon Islands lying to the east.
