On the wast coast of New Zealand just below Timaru and 120km north of Dunedin lies Oamaru, a small coastal community. This makes an ideal point to stop for a night between the two if traveling south from Christchurch, since there is a sheltered harbour.
Cruising the region
This is a day stopover point right on the South Island, East Coast. Not a lot more to tell really.

Call a fisherman up on Ch 62. Choose an anchorage, holding is good. The town is fascinating and worth a visit.
