Šepurine
| |
| |
Šepurine is one of two harbours on Prvić Island in Croatia (the other being Prvić Luka), lies on the W coast of the island facing the island of Tijat a mile to the W. Šepurine was the family home of the renowned Croatian scholar and inventor Faust Vrancic, often described as the Croatian Leonardo da Vinci, whose 17th century masterwork, Machinae Novae, described inventions as varied as tide mills, suspension bridges and the parachute. The family’s mansion survives today, although the scholar’s remains are interred in the parish church of Prvić Luka.
There is a very small and crowded harbour immediately S of the village, where a smaller yacht may be able to squeeze in alongside, and a jetty 200 metres S where a yacht can go alongside or stern/bows-to using the anchor. Shelter in the harbour is good in winds from N round to SE but poor with winds from NW round to S.

There are no dangers in the immediate approach to Šepurine. Depths in the harbour entrance are only 3.0 metres and depths are similar on the jetty S of the harbour. Šepurine is thus unsuitable for large or deep draft yachts.
Entrance
Šibenik on the mainland is the nearest year-round port of entry.
Berthing
There are just two berthing options in Šepurine, the old harbour and the jetty 200 metres S of the harbour. There is also an anchorage at 'U. Kobila 500 metres S of the old harbour.
Šepurine harbour
The harbour of Sepurine, while the closest berthing option to the village, is both very cramped and quite shallow. Shelter in this position is good in all but strong W and SW winds.
The only berth suitable for a larger yacht is alongside the outer end of the breakwater at the entrance to the harbour, where there are two bollards and space for just one yacht.
Perhaps yet another berth could be found at the outer side of the SE pier, although that's quite uncertain.
Depths here and in the harbour entrance are 3.0 metres but quickly shoal to 2.0 metres or less once past the ‘elbow’. A smaller yacht may lie alongside on the S side of the harbour, although there is little to tie on to other than a lamppost. There are no facilities on the quay.Šepurine jetty
