Njivice
| |
The harbour of Njivice is situated on the NW coast of the island of Krk in Croatia, around 21 miles by sea N of the island’s main harbour of Krk Town. A former fishing village, the town has a small and relatively shallow harbour with a pier alongside which a yacht can usually find space. The harbour is exposed to winds from W and NW and would not be safe in strong winds from that direction.

Islands
There are no dangers in the approach to Njivice. The large commercial pier on the W side of the harbour is easily identified once close in.
Entrance
Njivice is not a port of entry. The nearest ports of entry are Mali Losinj on the island of [Losinj]] or Rijeka.
Berthing
The best berth for a visiting yacht (if there is space) is alongside the long commercial pier on the W side of the harbour. Depths here are from 2.5 metres towards the root to around 3.5 metres at the end. Most of the rest of the harbour, which is shallow, is occupied by small leisure and fishing craft. Shelter in the harbour is good in winds from S and E but poor in northerlies. A strong N or NW wind would probably render it untenable.
Marinas & Yacht Clubs
None.
Anchorages
It may be possible to drop anchor temporarily in the harbour approaches if going ashore for supplies, but Njivice does not offer a suitable overnight anchorage unless the weather is very settled. A better anchorage (but only in settled weather) is the bay about half a mile NE of the harbour, where depths are around 10 metres and the holding is good in mud.
