The tiny harbour of Brela lies on the Adriatic coast of Croatia three miles SE of the settlement of Omis and one mile NW of the equally small harbour of Baska Voda. The village’s setting is superb, under the slopes of Mount Biokovo and surrounded by small sandy coves fringed with pine trees.
The harbour here has been expanded and refurbished in recent years, but there is usually very little space for a visiting yacht and it is wise to come early and have an alternative mooring plan. Shelter in the harbour is adequate in settled weather but poor in S or W winds, when shelter should be sought in Split or on the island of Brac.
