Approach
Th best approach is from the south, east of York Island and over York Bank. Heavy swells can make the passage over York Bank dangerous, if such conditions exist spend another day in Mamora Bay or Indian Creek.
Stay well off shore until east of York Island, then head northwest keeping York Island and Neck Of Land to port (the west). Beware of the reef that stretches south of Green Island and protects Rickettes Harbour. Once north of Neck Of Land zig west to avoid the reef.
Next head north toward Submarine Rock, again keeping it to port (the west). When north of Submarine Rock head west briefly until lined up on the left third of the channel between Conk Point and Green Island, the reef from Green Island protrudes farther into the channel than the reef along Conk Point.
A final north leg puts you in the bay, but it is not time to rest yet, Middle Reef awaits. Take it to either side.
There are quite a few zigs and zags, but when on the optimum line the depth remains over 30 feet.
Check-in facilities
There are no customs or immigration facilities in Nonsuch Bay, check in at one of the many port of entries listed under Antigua.
Anchorages
There are several wonderful anchorages within Nonsuch Bay, ranging from cozy mangrove creeks to wide open areas protected only by reefs.
West Bay Anchorage
Anywhere between Green Island and Bird Island is a great place to anchor and enjoy an unobstructed view of the Atlantic over the barrier reef.
Browns Bay
The bay is occupied by several boats on mooring balls, so anchor out clear of the small rock wall.
Ashore is Harmony Hall, an art gallery, boutique, hotel, restaurant and bar, tie up at the dinghy dock, climb up and enjoy a drink and the view.
Ayers Creek
Clover Leaf Bay
The Emerald Bay Resort (not yet open in April 2010) lines the north shore and leaf of this mangrove cove. Each of the three leafs shoals up quickly, watch your depth. There is plenty of room where the north and east leafs meet.
