Northern Ireland is a country within the United Kingdom, lying in the northeast of Ireland, covering 5,459 square miles (14,139 km²), about a sixth of the island's total area. It shares a border with the Republic of Ireland to the south and west. In the United Kingdom, it is generally known as one of the four Home Nations and is the only one that is not located on the island of Great Britain.
Describe the cruising/sailing in the region.
Climate & Weather
The weather in Northern Ireland is notoriously unpredictable, and it is not uncommon to experience a full range of meteological conditions in a single week. As with the rest of the island of Ireland and Great Britain, the province is particularly susceptible to rain. - (Expand this ...)

Security
Despite a reputation as unsafe, Northern Ireland has one of the lowest crime rates among industrialized countries. According to statistics from the U.N. International Crime Victimization Survey (ICVS 2004), Northern Ireland has one of the lowest crime rates in Europe (lower than the United States and the rest of the United Kingdom). In fact, the results of the latest ICVS show that Japan is the only industrialized place safer than Northern Ireland. Almost all visitors experience a trouble-free stay.
