More notes about the Marina |
The marina is situated at the W end of the large commercial harbour of Split on the Adriatic coast of Croatia. Split has good international transport links by ferry, road and air, with an airport only 20 kms away and regular ferries to the Italian ports of Ancona, Pescara and Bari. Operated by the government-owned ACI Group, Marina Split offers 355 berths for yachts up to 80 metres in depths of up to 3.0 metres.
Marina radio contact
Call Marina Split on VHF channel 10 prior to entry. Alternatively, telephone or e-mail to enquire about berthing or advance reservations.
There are no hazards in the approach to Split, although the coast on either side of the main harbour has a number of isolated rocks and should not be approached too closely. The city is easily identified from some distance off by a tall, disused lighthouse just E of the harbour entrance and the buildings of the city behind. Ferries enter and leave the harbour at speed and caution is needed on the final approach. The marina lies at the W end of the harbour and is entered from NNE between a long breakwater (marked with a red tower) and the shore. There are offlying rocks along the shore, marked with two green starboard buoys.
Berthing
Berthing assistance available. Yachts berth stern/bows-to where directed on one of seven long pontoons or associated quays. Laid moorings at all berths. Maximum depths in the marina are 8.0 metres but there is little more than 3.0 metres at the entrance.Marina facilities
