More notes about the Marina |
|
Nazare Marina is situated at the town of the same name, lying about 45 miles south of Figueira da Foz and 20 miles north of Peniche in Portugal. Unusually for a Portuguese Atlantic harbour, it can be entered at any state of tide and weather. The marina lies at the S end of the harbour and provides around 14 berths for visiting yachts of up to 25 metres in depths of up to 4.0 metres.
Marina radio contact
Currently no VHF communications-equipment available. Just berth on the end of the central pontoon or any of both on the outside. Most of the time there are other cruising-sailors and liveaboards around to give you a hand with docking. Report to the marina office or, out of office hours, to the security-officer at the main gate for check-in and the key for the showers.
From the north, the promontory of Sitio is very conspicuous a mile north of the harbour. From the south, the long sandy coast gives way to a low rocky foreshore about two miles before arriving at the harbour breakwater. Although the entrance to Nazare faces NW, there is seldom much swell in view of the depths here. Pass through the outer harbour, turn to starboard at the control tower and continue SE into the inner basin where the marina is located.
Berthing
Usually visiting yachts berth alongside on the end of the central pontoon or wherever there is space. It may be necessary to raft up at busy periods. Most of the time there is crusing-sailors or liveaboards around to help you with docking. No VHF-equipment available in the port at the moment. During office-hours, if needed, you can call +351-262561401. Outside office hours in state of emergency, for the moment, you may call +351-910350643 which is my personal and private phone-number - till we find a better solution.
