Vounaki is a small harbour on the Ionian coast of Greece, just a mile S of the similar harbour of Palairos in the so-called Inland Sea between the island of Lefkas and the Greek mainland. Primarily a base for a large Sunsail charter operation, the small marina in the harbour accepts visiting yachts, but not on busy handover days. A visiting yacht is therefore likely to be turned away if arriving at the weekend. In these circumstances, a yacht is better heading for Palairos before it too gets busy for the weekend.

Weather
In summer the weather conditions are typical for the northern Ionian. The early morning is usually calm. At about 11:00 the first light wind starts to blow from the NW into the bay, increasing as the afternoon passes and then dying away again in the evening.

The approach to Vounaki is free of dangers, although a shallow reef with less than a metre over it lies about two miles NW. This would only be a likely danger to a yacht tacking N into the bay towards the settlement of Pogonia, as it is not on the direct route from W or S.
Berthing
Visiting yachts berth where directed on a long, L-shaped pontoon or on the breakwater quay. There are laid moorings at all berths. Depths in the harbour range from 2.0 to 5.0 metres. For advance reservations, contact:
