Angra dos Reis is located southwest of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, some 150 km from the city of Rio de Janeiro. It is famous for its coastline, comprised of the Bay of Ilha Grande, a beautiful and pristine setting having 365 islands, of which the largest and most important is Ilha Grande. Its main population center is the port and city of the same name.
One of the best cruising grounds in South America, with 365 islands, one for each day of the year, very well sheltered anchorages with white sand beaches and excellent holding (sand or mud bottom), no strong currents and the tidal difference is no more than 1.85m.
